Here you will find a description of our spaces and information about how to book them.

Our Spaces

Church

Description

A beautiful space (featured on our home page) facing a large bright full length window at the front of the sanctuary behind the communion table. A central aisle and two smaller aisles on either side.

The church has hosted plays, musicals, concerts and all variety of performances. The sanctuary area is raised and can be completely cleared to provide a stage for shows or musical groups.

Capacity

Usually set up for around 200, can seat up to around 250 when full, with extra chairs. Comfortable chairs with cloth covers may be individually placed or clipped together to form a row.

Access and Special Needs

Access is upstairs to the main doors but also serviced by a lift to side doors. The lift has capacity for equipment and other large items and must be used in funerals.

A personal loop system is available for anyone requiring hearing enhancement.

Large print versions of our hymn books are also available, on request.

Music and Audio Visual

The church has a high quality pipe organ that is well maintained and played every Sunday and a piano with rich warm sounds. We also have a Hymnal Plus to provide accompaniment in the absence of an organist.

We use the Singing the Faith hymn book and also have Songs of Fellowship.

An AV desk is permanently installed at the rear of the space with a 12 channel mixer, DVD and CD players, and computer plug in points. A panel of XLR jack sockets is installed to one side of the sanctuary to allow microphones, musical instruments, etc. to be plugged into the AV system. The church uses both fixed and radio microphones to augment the human voice.

A screen may be lowered in the sanctuary area for showing videos or computer presentations from a data projector mounted on one of the tie rods that cross the interior roof space. The sanctuary screen is supplemented by two flank monitors for those at the rear in the side aisles.

Crèche

At the rear of the space adjacent to the AV desk is a crèche that may be used by parents with young children who need some quiet time away from the main congregation or a place to change nappies, etc. From the crèche people can look into the main body of the church as well as hear the service piped to them from a speaker installed on the wall. There are toys for children to play with and low comfortable chairs. You are welcome to use this space as you choose.

Falder Hall

DESCRIPTION

Downstairs on the ground floor the Falder Hall is a highly flexible room that can be used for any occasion. It adjoins the kitchen via a counter top that can be closed by a roller shutter when not in use.

CAPACITY

Up to 80. Seating is in the form of plastic stackable chairs. We have both long and short tables with folding legs that may be set out for adults as well as similar tables and chairs for children.

ACCESS AND SPECIAL NEEDS

Easily accessible on the ground floor through double doors.

A loop system (separate from the main church) is available here.

MUSIC AND AUDIO VISUAL

An electric piano is available in the Falder Hall and is used, for example, during café style church, which is held here.

The Falder Hall has an AV cupboard that allows the limited use of microphones and other equipment through a five channel mixer. One feature of the AV system is the ability to pipe the service or music through from the main church above.

A data projector is installed on the ceiling and a corresponding screen may be lowered to allow videos and slideshows to be projected. This facility is commonly used by speakers at Wesley Guild meetings and on other events and occasions.

Soons/Taylor Rooms

DESCRIPTION

The Soons and Taylor rooms are a single space that may be divided into two spaces by drawing across a flexible division. Most commonly they are used together as a single room for bible study and similar smaller meetings that do not require the use of the Falder Hall.

Some access is available to the kitchen via a small servery hatch.

CAPACITY

Combined in their usual formation the Soons/Taylor Rooms can hold up to 30 people at a pinch. Divided into two rooms, each can separately hold at most 15 people. When used as two rooms the range of activities must be relatively quiet as some sound will bleed through the folding partition.

ACCESS AND SPECIAL NEEDS

Accessible on the ground floor with a single entry door. There is no loop system.

MUSIC AND AUDIO VISUAL

The church's older piano (since replaced in the church above) was moved to the Soons/Taylor Rooms for choir rehearsals. Let the buyer beware (check when it was last tuned before you rely on it).

A television and DVD player on a stand may be wheeled between the office and the Soons/Taylor Rooms and is used, for example, for Mothers and Toddlers. There is no other AV equipment permanently installed here.

Office

DESCRIPTION

The church has an office with a desk, photocopier, etc. The office has an administrative function and is not usually hired by the public but is sometimes used as a break out room, for meetings of the Leadership Team, etc.

Up to 15 (10 in comfort).

Sacred Occasions

The Windsor Methodist Church accepts requests for weddings, baptisms, thanksgivings (e.g. after the birth/adoption of a child, or for another occasion) and is able to provide help with funerals. All bookings are at the discretion of the Minister and are subject to potential clashes with previous bookings and other church activities.

If you wish to use our facilities then contact us through our contact page.

Secular Events

The church is often used for other events such as concerts and performances, parties, meetings, etc. A common occurrence is a children's birthday party.

However, please also read through our terms and conditions below: we are a Methodist church (no alcohol).

Regular clubs and groups

It does not have to be a single event. We also have a number of regular clubs and groups who meet, usually on a weekly basis, such as Mothers and Toddlers.

Again, please check our terms and conditions as there are some activities that we will not agree to.

The Lord's Prayer
(traditional form)

The Lord's Prayer
(modern form)

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever,
Amen

Our Father in heaven
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Do not bring us to the time of trial
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Amen
